Topic: The Calling of Jesus

Text: Mark 1:16-20

Very soon after meeting Jesus
there is a CALLING
to be with Jesus
and to be fruitful

CALL to FAITHFULNESS

CALL to FRUITFULNESS

 It is true that God is more interested in our BEING
                                                   than in our DOING

And yet TRANSFORMATION leads to DOING.

Called WHERE?

Some people think that calling happens while praying

                                                 while doing bible study

Yes these do happen

but from the passage we see that

 the calling happened in the midst of day to day activity.

Calling happens while you are FWYA

 Faithful Where You Are.

RESPONSE TIME

How long did it take for them to respond?

IMMEDIATE

They dropped their nets.

NETS

What are the metaphorical nets that entangle your heart?

That prevent you from following Jesus?

POSSESIONS?
PRESTIGE?

PLEASURE?

PARENT'S PLANS?

PEOPLE?

PAIN?

DROP YOUR NET IMMEDIATELY

To help you do so,
symbolically write your "nets" and drop them into a box to be destroyed
to liberate you to be filled with God's grace
to be transformed
to follow Jesus.
