Sexual sin

At CHE meeting I was arrowed to do bible sharing one day
I chose John 8:2-11

Role play setup:
I asked for one volunteer
He was placed on a chair in the middle of the group and was tasked to role play Jesus.

The participants surrounded him and were asked to practice two phrases:
"What do you say?"
And
"should we stone her?"
In either English or Khmer.
And to say it is a loud angry voice
Repeatedly
At high volume
We practiced this a few times.

I asked them to bring out the woman caught in adultery.
They were embarrassed till I pointed her out:

Then we began the role play with Jesus teaching
Then the angry men bring a woman caught in adultery

The law commands us to stone such a woman. what do you say?

But Jesus says nothing: he bends down and writes on the ground with his finger.

They kept on questioning him
This is where I wind up the crowd

"What do you say?"
And
"should we stone her?"
In either English or Khmer.
In  a loud angry voice
Repeatedly
At high volume.

Then Jesus says if anyone of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.

The people go away, beginning with the older ones first:
 till only Jesus is left.

Jesus says "Where are they?
Has no one condemned you?"

"no one sir" she replies

"Then neither do I condemn you
Go
Leave your life of sin"

End of roleplay
Question: how did you feel in the shoes of the angry mob?
are we not often like that?
Are we not often judgemental and quick to criticize?
But Jesus demonstrates mercy and love compassion and grace.

"neither do I condemn you
Go
Leave your life of sin"

Words of restoration
Words of revival
Words of renewal.

next part of lesson
Brainstorm
What are the sexual sins we commit?

Participants counted off into four groups
Small group work

1) What is the impact on you when you commit sexual sin?

2) How do we seek wholeness after sexual sin?

3) How do we avoid sexual sin?

4) How do we show love to someone who has committed sexual sin?

At end of lesson we pray
Confess our sins
ask for forgiveness
Receive mercy and grace
Ask for cleansing
Ask for empowerment by holy sprit to lead right lives
